Argenta Discovery Limited was founded on 2 August 2000
as a spin-out from Aventis’ UK
Research Centre. On 7 October 2004, Argenta merged with another UK biotechnology
company, Etiologics Limited, which itself commenced business
in November 2002. As a result of this merger, Argenta began its transition to a respiratory-focused R&D company. In January 2007, Argenta announced its first major strategic alliance in the respiratory field with AstraZeneca.
Argenta has raised a total of £17.4 million (approximately
$30 million) in three rounds, the most recent of which was
in October 2004 when the company raised £6.3 million.
