Biology
Dr
Peter Lockey directs Argenta’s comprehensive biology
capabilities, which include molecular biology, assay development,
and biochemical and cellular screening.
Our molecular biology capabilities cover cloning in a variety
of expression systems (E. coli, yeast, insect and
mammalian) as well as purification of proteins and membranes.
We are skilled in a range of assay methodologies, and can
develop and apply novel methodologies in addition to running
a client’s existing assay protocol, to ensure consistency
with historical data.
Our screening capabilities span biochemical and cell-based
functional assays for all enzyme, protein-protein or receptor
targets in a variety of techniques, including:
- Radioactivity (e.g. SPA, Flashplate, Cytostar T)
- Fluorescence (e.g. HTRF,FP, DELFIA, Molecular Devices
Flexstation)
- Absorbance
- Luminescence (e.g. ALPHA screen, reporter gene)
- Meso Scale electrochemiluminescence technology
A panel of profiling assays is also available to assess
selectivity versus family targets (e.g. in kinases) and also
inter-species selectivity.
We also develop and implement high-content assays in partnership
with TTP LabTech using the Acumen Explorer™ platform.
Functional assays can be performed in appropriate cell systems
to characterise the pharmacology and toxicity profile of lead
compounds.
